Tomorrow is Mother's Day, a particularly bittersweet day for me. My darling Mother left us so unexpectedly on Mother's Day (May 12, 1985). She was only 62 years old and was the light in my life, my best friend, my confidant. I've tried all these years to accept her death but I must admit the pain of her loss is as sharp as the day it happened. I find that I question why so many bad people live such long lives while the good seem to die young. Perhaps it is the reward for being a good person. I wanted to share a photo of my Mother today and tell her "Happy Mother's Day". She is missed so much.

Oh, Coni! I share your pain. Although my Mom is still alive I feel the same over the death of my father, so young! In the first photo you do favor your dear mother so well! With the loss of one or both of our parents we feel a special, poignant loss on those days dedicated to celebrating parents! Please do enjoy being a mother yourself, as I will on Sunday. We will be at Blake Ranch RV Park, which is such a goal we have finally reached for in our horrible year that I am hoping that Mother's Day, 2011 will be memorable one for us. A special treat for us will be being taken out for breakfast by our oldest son and then he will come to our house and help us with the heaviest items to go into the motorhome for our trip. I am sooooo glad we let this child live past his teenage years! He has become such a wonderful man! LOL.

ReplyDeleteYour Mom was too beautiful, kind, noble for this world, so God brought her to Heaven,to protect her. The pain-stricken family was left to miss her.
We, humans, are helpless! We must believe, however, the death of a good person is not in vain, it has some significance.

ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words. It is so wonderful to know that someone understands my feelings and loss. I agree that God protects the good and my Mother was certainly one of the best. It's a blessing to know that she was rewarded with Heaven early but such a pain to bear her loss. I count you as one of my friends and perhaps one day we might meet.
